This is a bit personal, I hope you won’t mind…

It was when my third car got repossessed that I KNEW I needed to make a change….

I was 26, with kids (and another on the way), living in a one bathroom apartment, busing tables at my dad’s restaurant.
I would come home some nights after a long shift, driving a beat up ol’ clunker I bought for a few 100 bucks from a family member…

and drop my head into my pillow and fight to hold back the tears.
(Hope you won't think less of me, but I want to lay it all out for you…)

I was sick and tired of depending on OTHER people and industries to provide for my family.
I hungered for the freedom to build the kind of life that I wanted, not the life OTHER people told me I should be living.

I was at my limit…

I didn’t know what I was going to do.
I’d heard about online marketing and all that…
I’d tried a few things here and there, But I didn't really have much luck with anything.
Not soon after my third car got repo’d, I remember a lil’ book I’d read called Rich Dad Poor Dad.

(You know which one I’m talking about ? )

The basic idea is that you invest in a bunch of properties, then rent them out to folks, making a small profit of off each rental.
The idea of controlling my OWN rental empire where I was the Landlord and I didn’t have to answer to a J.O.B. or up-tight boss…

…where folks would send me checks EVERY month without having to do ANY work??

…it was a huge breakthrough for me. This was true, freedom-granting passive income!

That was…until I started digging into it.

.
What no one tells you is how much RISK is involved in owning 10-15 rental properties, not to mention the initial investment…

ONE mistake could ruin your credit for LIFE …

And “IF” just ONE person doesn’t pay their rent, you might go from making a profit to MAYBE breaking even…

But…

What IF there was a way to still be a Landlord, and get people to pay rent WITHOUT all the hassle, investment or risk?

What IF I there was a way to apply this same method of being a Landlord to the online space?

Over the next few months, I toyed around with this idea….

I ended up getting a few “local” business clients who would pay me monthly to do things like PPC, SEO, Social media, Adwords…

Only to stop paying me because they “couldn’t afford it” or “wanted to bring it in-house.”

Each time I lost a local client, I would see my monthly income drop by $1000’s…

.
Then I’d scramble to try and replace the lost income…while still trying to provide services for my EXISTING clients…

.
…not to mention pulling my hair out every morning in frustration…

.
I would spend MONTHS investing my time and effort only to have them stop paying me after a few months, taking all the work I’d done WITH them.

.
It turns out that having multiple “clients” just just means having multiple “bosses”.

.
I remember DREADING emails, because I knew that any second I would hear that familiar Gmail “ding” and see another email from a client asking to cancel.

.
I’d had enough…

.
I told myself that I would NEVER work with “clients” like that again…spending hours each day learning technical, complicated online marketing strategies, to just have them leave me.

It took a few months, but I finally figured out how to build websites, get them ranked on Google, then RENT them to businesses who wanted the leads they generated.

I discovered that I could rent a web property to a business and they would pay $5k, $10k and even $15k for the year…or rent them from me monthly for $500-$1000/mo.

.
Just like the leasing model in Rich Dad Poor Dad, without ANY of the risk.

And here’s the real kicker…

It would take about 4 hours of actual “work,” then I would sit back and collect checks every month.

I can still remember the first time I left on a 5 day vacation with my family to Disneyland, then coming back and seeing deposits in my bank account…there was MORE money in my bank account then when I had left 5 days earlier!

It was the true passive income model I'd been looking for.
